Tamassee Hills Bowmen

We at Tamassee Hills Bowmen have created this website to promote the sport of Archery and to give members and guests of the Tamassee Hills Bowmen Club the scores and info on upcoming events. You can get detailed instructions and a map showing how to get here.

High up in the mountains, Many years ago, there nestled a little Cherokee village. The village was famous for the great Fire Prophet that lived there. He possessed vast wisdom and healing powers. His influence was far reaching; people came great distances to ask him difficult questions and to be made strong and healthy.

The assumed source of the Fire Prophet's powers was an unusually large ruby that he owned. It was named "The Sunlight of God."

At his death, the people obeyed his parting instructions and buried him with the stone clasped to his breast. The knoll, where the  Prophet's grave lay, was called Tamassee, meaning "The Place of the Sunlight of God."

More than 200 years later, Tamassee is once again the name of a place where the "Sunlight of God" goes forth into many lives to bless and strengthen them. And once more, Tamassee is a place where people can come have their difficult questions answered and to be made strong and healthy.
